AUG 01 – HOLY GOD!
“….they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!” (Revelations 4:8).
Our God is A holy God. The most prominent among His characteristics is His holiness. The Holy God desires that you too progress in holiness like Him. God willed to anoint John, the Apostle with the Holy Spirit, and take him to the Heavenly Kingdom to enable him to see what is happening there. What did they see there? They saw the hosts of heaven worshipping God day and night chanting, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’.
In the Tamil translation of this verse, the word ‘Holy’ finds place thrice and in some other translations, this word gets repeated nine times. Our God is Triune and so He is called ‘Holy’ three times. Our God of Trinity is holy.
He has been holy even before the foundation of the world. He is Holy now and He will be Holy also in the days to come. He has been holy right from the beginning of eternity. The holiness of God is eternal. His beauty, image and appearance remain holy.
That holy God has called you to be Holy. He is concerned about the holiness in your personal life. He shows more care and interest in your Holy life than what you show towards it. He who called you to be holy will not disown you in the middle. He who has chosen you to be sanctified will guide you until you get perfected in the same.
God aims to turn your image similar to that of the Son of God. “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord, your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth” (Deut. 7:6).
Is it not a great blessing for you to have such a holy God as your God and to worship Him with the beauty of holiness? God is eager to help you in every way when you make efforts to live Holy. Are not the parents feel happy when they notice their children growing? Think a little about this. If the holiness in life is not maintained, one will have no other option other than catching hold of the dirt. If one lives in dirt, where will he or she spend the eternity?
Dear children of God, be prepared to make any sacrifice to continue to live with holiness.
To meditate: “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct” (I Peter 1:15).
