JULY 17 – FAITHFULNESS OF DANIEL!

“…they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him” (Daniel 6:4).

Our God is faithful. All the saints who love Him are also found to be faithful. We have been meditating the lives of many faithful saints. Today, let us meditate on the faithfulness of Daniel.

A group was running around Daniel to find fault with him. The cruel people rose against him with the spirit of irritation. They are not ordinary people. The Scripture says that even the governors sought to find some charge against Daniel. But they could find no charge or fault against him (Daniel 6:4).

One among the names of satan is ‘Accuser of our brethren’ (Revelations 12:10). But Daniel looked faithful in the eyes of God, men and the king.

What is the promise of God? It is nothing but ‘If you are faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things’ (Mathew 25:23). When Daniel was brought to Babylon in captivity, God found him to be faithful. God saw how stubborn and faithful he was when he refused to take the portion of the king’s delicacies to avoid getting defiled. Because of this, God made him ruler over many things. Many kings came and disappeared. But Daniel was exalted more and more and rose to the top position.

Dear children of God, will you be as faithful as Daniel was? “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (II Chronicles 16:9). Even the king realised the faithfulness of Daniel. He called Daniel “Daniel, servant of the living God” and asked, “Has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”

Do you know what Daniel’s reply was? “O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths so that they have not hurt me because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you” (Daniel 6:21, 22).

‘Faithfulness’ is an important factor in Christian life. David writes ‘you desire truth in the inward parts’ (Psalms 51:6). When you remain faithful to God and to the people the Name of God will be glorified. Your endeavour will be successful.

To meditate: “A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished” (Proverbs 28:20).
