Aug 16 – EYES SHALL BE OPENED !
“Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.” (Isaiah 35:5),
Once a blind brother asked someone, “Sir, what is the sky? How would that be?” And that person gave a brief explanation about the sky. When he said it is of blue colour, the blind man asked ‘Sir, what is this blue colour? How will it be?’. The person thought about it. While he knew how the colour blue looks like, how can he make the blind person, to understand?
Those who are spiritually blind are just as pitiable as those who are physically blind. They do not know anything about God, of the heavenly kingdom, or of eternal joy. The Lord says, “Bring out the blind people who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears.” (Isaiah 43:8). The Lord opens the eyesight of the blind, who come unto Him.
“Once two blind men followed Lord Jesus, crying out and saying, ‘Son of David, have mercy on us!’ … And Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?’ They said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord.’ Then He touched their eyes, saying, ‘According to your faith let it be to you’. And their eyes were opened” (Matthew 9:27-30).
Lord Jesus said, “The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” (Matthew 11:5)
Much of the ministry of Lord Jesus ministry involved healing and performing miracles. When the Lord saw the blind, he was moved with compassion, gave them sight and blessed them. The Scripture says, “Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.” (Matthew 12:22)
A sister once shared her testimony as follows. “My eyes suddenly started to blur. I could not read the Bible. And could not recognise anyone. I requested many servants of God to pray for me. One night, I decided to pray fervently to the Lord for my eyesight. At ten o’clock at night I knelt down, and prayed until dawn, wrestling with God. I asked the Lord who restored sight to Bartimaeus, to heal me and restore my eyesight. I prayed that I would have eyesight till the day of the Lord. And the Lord miraculously restored my sight”.
Children of God, it is so pitiable to live in this world without eyesight. We should therefore be eternally grateful for the eyes and the vision that He has graciously granted unto us.
“So the multitude marvelled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.” (Matthew 15:31).
