Apr 17 – Do Not Grow Weary!
Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.” (Isaiah 40:28)
One of the most dangerous weapons Satan uses to defeat God’s people is discouragement. This weapon has attacked many believers and shaken many servants of God.
But look at our precious Lord. He never grows weary, and He does not want us to grow weary either. That is why the Bible says: “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:29)
Some people experience constant physical weariness. Others suffer from mental discouragement. When discouragement fills the mind, people lose enthusiasm. Their faces grow dull, and they appear almost like lifeless bodies. But those who praise and rejoice in the Lord remain joyful and energetic.
If discouragement enters your heart, immediately go to the feet of the Lord. Join with God’s people and worship the Lord with joy.
“A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22) And the wise man also says: “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” (Proverbs 24:10)
Sometimes discouragement may not be in the body or mind but in the spirit. The spirit becomes troubled. Fear and anxiety begin to torment. There is no desire to read the Bible or to pray. When this happens, understand clearly that an enemy is fighting against you. Seek counsel from the Lord’s servants and ask them to pray for you.
Also, stand against the enemy who is fighting your spirit. When you resist Satan, he will flee. Declare boldly, “I am a child of God. Satan, you cannot touch me!” Then begin to praise the Lord aloud. As you continue praising Him, great deliverance will come into your spirit.
Did not Jesus Christ come into this world to give us the garment of praise?
“To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” (Isaiah 61:3)
Children of God, receive that garment of praise. Even if it feels difficult to praise, keep praising the Lord. As you continue, deliverance will surely come. Joy will fill your heart, and every bondage will be broken.
Verse for further meditation: “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9)
