Apr 10 – The Testing Rain!
“And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” (Matthew 7:25).
The Lord places two houses before us. Outwardly, they may look very similar. They may have similar doors, similar windows, and similar coat of paint. Externally, both houses might appear beautiful.
But one day the rain tested those houses. One house stood firm, while the other collapsed. The reason one house remained standing was because it had its foundation on the rock. The other house fell and was destroyed because its foundation was laid on sand.
Jesus said: “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matthew 7:24).
The rain of anointing will test us. The Holy Spirit will certainly examine His people. Whether it is an individual believer, a ministry, a church, or an organization—only those that are built upon Christ the Rock will stand firm in times of testing.
The Bible says: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11). “And that Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4).
How is your foundation? Is it firmly established on Christ the Rock? Is your life founded upon the Word of God? Is your daily life aligned with God’s Word? Take a moment to examine yourself.
Just as rain tests, fire also tests. The Scripture says that if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, each one’s work will become clear. The Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test the quality of each one’s work (1 Corinthians 3:12–13).
In the last days, both rain and fire are ready to test every child of God. Those whose foundation is laid upon Christ the Rock and who live according to His Word will stand forever. But if the spiritual life is not properly built with a true foundation and dedication, the same rain and fire may result in judgment.
Children of God, are you prepared for this testing?
Verse for further meditation: “You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress” (Psalm 17:3).
