Mar 19 – Abide in Love !
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love” (John 15:9–10).
Among the fruits of the Spirit, the greatest fruit is love. The list of the fruit of the Spirit begins with love (Galatians 5:22). This pure and holy love is seen perfectly in Jesus Christ. By offering Himself on the Cross, He loved the world in such a measure (John 3:16). Therefore, abide in this divine love.
The love of Jesus Christ is sacrificial love. It never rejects anyone who comes to Him. It is the love that ran after you, the love that lifted you out of the miry clay, the love that loves you to the very end. The Bible says: “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5).
Without love, the gifts of the Spirit are of no profit. The apostle Paul says: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:1–2).
Therefore, abide in love.
Ministry without love is empty show. A heart without love is a barren heart. In the last days, “the love of many will grow cold, because lawlessness will abound” (Matthew 24:12). Let your love not grow cold or diminish. Continually rekindle the fire of divine love within you.
“Love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave; its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement flame.
Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly despised” (Song of Solomon 8:6–7).
Jesus Himself defined love. In Him alone we see perfect love. The Scripture declares: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
In the kind gaze of Lord Jesus, in His words, in His deeds, and in His teachings—we see love. The mighty flood of love that flowed from Calvary’s Cross captures our hearts.
Dear child of God, abide in love.
Verse for further meditation: “In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9).
