Feb 24 – The One Who Does Good!
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38)
Our beloved Lord is good. Because He is good, He does good. The Bible says that He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. The same Jesus who went about doing good two thousand years ago is unchanging even today. He is near you now, eager and willing to do good to you.
There is one who goes about intending to do evil—that one is Satan. He comes only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, and for nothing else. But Jesus, who is good, came that we may have life, and that we may have it more abundantly (John 10:10).
The Jesus who does good did not just stop with doing good. He drives away Satan, who does evil, and delivers people from his grip. Scripture clearly says that He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38).
Once, a woman was severely ill and admitted to a hospital. For five long years that disease tormented her. Doctors struggled to identify the cause of the illness. Lakhs of rupees were spent, and yet there was no improvement in her condition.
One day, a servant of God came to that hospital to speak about the love of the Lord. With tears in her eyes, the sister cried out, “Sir, if the Lord is truly good, why this illness? Why this struggle with death? Why this wasteful expense?”
The preacher pointed her to John 10:10 and said, “The one who is blocking your healing is Satan. He is a thief. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. But the Lord Jesus came that you may have life, and that you may have it more abundantly.” Saying this, he laid his hand upon her head and prayed.
That was all it took. To the amazement of everyone present, the unclean spirits within her fled. The Lord delivered her completely from the grip of the devil. On that very day, she received divine healing.
The Good Lord Jesus Christ has given you authority and dominion over all the power of Satan. Exercise the authority the Lord has given you and rebuke him. Then he will flee from you.
Beloved children of God, welcome the Lord Jesus into your life and praise Him – who is good and who does good. Then evil will depart, blessings will overflow, and goodness will abound.
Verse for further meditation: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Revelation 12:11)
