Jan 20 – A Hardened Heart!

“Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, as in the day of trial in the wilderness.” (Psalm 95:8)

The Lord says: Do not harden your heart. He desires to speak to you…to revive you…to lead you in His perfect way. Therefore, be ready to hear His voice.

Adam and Eve “heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8). Scientists say the coolest hour of the day is between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. The Lord says: “Those who seek Me early will find Me.” (Proverbs 8:17) Before the noises of the world enter your ears, rise up early and listen for His voice.

“Coolness” also means spiritual pleasantness—a time when your heart is tender and pleasing before Him. When you adore and worship Him, it brings delight and refreshment to His heart.

Elisha longed for the presence of the Lord. When a musician played the harp, the presence of God descended, and the prophetic anointing came upon him. Then he prophesied (2 Kings 3:15).

Balaam built seven altars and offered sacrifices—not merely as a ritual, but to wait for the voice of God to speak to him (Numbers 23:1–2).

In the Old Testament, God accepted animal sacrifices. But today, the sacrifice He desires is a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17) and praise – which is the fruit of our lips.

When you offer thanksgiving from a humble, broken heart, the presence of God will surround you. His gentle voice will echo within your spirit. In the midst of a thousand worldly noises, God will give you the sensitivity to recognize: “This is the voice of my Beloved!”

As the bride says: “I sleep, but my heart is awake; it is the voice of my Beloved who knocks.” (Song of Solomon 5:2)

Beloved child of God, the Son of God delights to speak with you! The Holy Spirit longs to whisper to you with His tender, comforting voice—the voice that consoles like a mother comforting her child.

Keep the door of your heart always open, to hear His soft whisper—and rejoice in it!

Verse for further meditation: “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” (John 14:26)
