Jan 06 – The Door of the Ark!

“You shall set the door of the ark in its side, and you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks” (Genesis 6:16).

Noah’s ark had three levels. These three levels symbolize the spirit, soul, and body of a human being. At the same time, they also point to the Holy Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—our divine protection.

On the lowest level, there had to be a door. Christ, who left heaven and descended to the lowly places of earth for our sake, is the Door of the ark of salvation. Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9).

He is not only the Door; He is also the Way. The Lord said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

There may be thousands of religions and philosophies in this world. Many teachers and thinkers may exist. But Christ alone is the ladder to heaven. He alone offered Himself as the atoning sacrifice for sin. No other name has been given under heaven by which we must be saved.

Noah’s ark also had one window, placed on the top level. This window brought light and air into the ark. This window represents the prayer-life that unites us with God.

Every one of us needs a deep relationship and union with our Lord. Only a life of prayer brings us into that unbroken fellowship. In prayer, we commune with God, and His Spirit communes with us.

If the window in the ark had remained closed, darkness would have filled the interior, and the stench of the animals’ waste would have made the environment unhealthy. Likewise, if your spiritual window remains closed, your inner life becomes dark, stagnant, and unhealthy.

For your spiritual life to stay healthy, keep the window of your heart open toward heaven. Daniel kept the windows of his upper room open toward Jerusalem, and prayed three times a day.

Open your heart toward Calvary, the mountain from which your help comes. Then your help will truly come from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2).

Verse for further meditation: “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days” (Daniel 6:10).
