Jan 01 – Be Fruitful and Multiply!
“So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth’” (Genesis 9:1).
My warmest greetings for the New Year greetings to each one of you. As a servant of the Lord, I bless you and every precious member of your family in His name.
A new beginning came into Noah’s life. The old things had passed away. The sinners and the wicked were destroyed by the great flood. Noah and his family stepped out onto Mount Ararat with a divine and exalted experience.
You too have come into a new year with the Lord. The same God who blessed Noah and his sons blesses you today. The One who told Noah’s family, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth,” now counsels you to fill the world with the Gospel. He will surely give you abundant spiritual fruitfulness.
Noah was the son of Lamech, the grandson of Methuselah, the great-grandson of Enoch, and the tenth generation from Adam. The greatness of Noah’s life was that he walked with God. Noah walked with Him, communed with Him, and spoke with Him face to face. Dear children of God, may the Lord Himself grant you such a deep relationship and unity with Him, in the new year.
James Irwin, the astronaut who walked on the moon, once said, “The greatest thing is not that I walked on the moon, but that the God who created the moon, the sun, and the stars is willing to walk with me in my daily life.” When the Lord walks with you, you need not fear or worry.
Lamech named his son “Noah” because he said, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed” (Genesis 5:29). Noah means comforter. Just as Lamech had a Noah who comforted him, we have the Holy Spirit, as our Comforter. Jesus said, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever” (John 14:16).
How does He comfort us? Like a mother comforts her child. The Lord says, “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:13).
Dear children of God, may this year be a blessed year filled with great comfort and divine consolation for you.
Verse for further meditation: “The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron” (Psalm 115:12).
