Jan 11 – A Pleasant Offspring!

“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem… and may God enlarge Japheth.” (Genesis 9:26,27)

Adam is the father of all living. But after the great flood, Noah became the father of a new generation. Scripture says: “These were the sons of Noah… from these the nations were divided on the earth after the flood.” (Genesis 10:31,32)

There is a physical lineage and there is a spiritual lineage. The man of the flesh produces a fleshly lineage; the man of the Spirit produces a spiritual lineage.

Adam is the father of all in the flesh. But in the church, the Lord graciously raises up spiritual fathers—ministers who guide and nurture souls.

Though Jesse was David’s earthly father, Samuel the prophet was his spiritual father; David called him “Father.” Elisha likewise cried out to Elijah, “My father, my father!”. Timothy had Paul as his spiritual father. You must be a spiritual father to your children.

Do not be satisfied with being an earthly father. Lead your children in the way of the Lord. God has placed upon you a great and holy responsibility: to walk uprightly, and to lead your household into spiritual blessing.

When you live faithfully before God, His blessings flow from generation to generation. The Lord says: “This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise.” (Isaiah 43:21). This is His expectation for your offspring!

The God of your fathers will be your God. The One who was the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, and the God of Joseph—this same God will be your God and the God of your children, and your children’s children, generation after generation.

God compared Abraham’s descendants to three things: the dust of the earth, the sand of the seashore, and the stars of heaven (Genesis 13:16; 22:17).

Once, Abraham’s children inherited the land flowing with milk and honey. Today, we as spiritual Israel will inherit the heavenly Canaan, the New Jerusalem.

May God testify about you as He did about Noah. Just as He said, “I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation,” may God declare the same concerning you!

Children of God, if you stand for the Lord and declare His Gospel to this generation, He will surely bless your offspring.

Verse for further meditation: “A posterity shall serve Him. It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation.” (Psalm 22:30)
