Oct 26 – Ezekiel!
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30).
Today we meet the prophet of the Lord named Ezekiel. The word Ezekiel means God strengthens. He was the son of Buzi, a priest. Along with Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Daniel, Ezekiel is counted among the great prophets. For about twenty-two years, he ministered faithfully, declaring the word of the Lord.
He foretold the punishments and judgments that awaited the nations for their sins. He also prophesied the final restoration of Israel and the temple that would be established in Jerusalem. He revealed, with clarity and detail, how the Lord would battle when the Antichrist comes against Jerusalem in the last days.
Ezekiel was taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar and carried to Babylon. In his prophecies, we see both God’s stern warnings and His deep love.
“Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4). “For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land” (Ezekiel 36:24).
The Lord has appointed you as a watchman for the people. The blood of your family, relatives, friends, and fellow citizens is upon you. It is your responsibility to share the gospel with them and intercede with tears on their behalf. If not you, who else will bring them the good news of Christ?
Therefore, do not minister to please people, but serve wholeheartedly to please the Lord. Do God’s will, and you will inherit eternal blessings.
We are living in the last days. Through Ezekiel, the Lord revealed the vision of dry bones coming to life. The time is near when even those in their graves will hear the voice of the Son of God. Indeed, that time is already upon us.
Once scattered across the world like dry bones, the people of Israel were gathered to their homeland and declared independence in 1948. Today they stand firmly as a mighty nation. Likewise, as spiritual Israel, we too must be revived by the Spirit of God, stand on our feet, and prepare ourselves for the Lord’s coming.
Verse for further meditation: “So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army” (Ezekiel 37:10).
