Aug 02 – Early Morning Prayer!

“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love.” (Psalm 143:8)

“Teach me to do what pleases You.” (Psalm 143:10)

Sitting at the feet of the Lord early in the morning is something that delights His heart. David, who longed to please his God, made it a daily practice to rise early and come before the Lord’s presence, praying: “Teach me to do what pleases You.”

We cannot please God through our own strength, self-righteousness, or personal efforts. Only those who come into God’s presence in the early morning with a humble heart saying, “Lord, teach me,” are the ones who will truly please Him. Yes, when the Lord becomes our Teacher, we will certainly walk in His ways and enjoy His pleasure.

The early morning is a beautiful and blessed time for the Lord to teach us. It is a sacred moment when God speaks to us, communes with us, reveals His will for the day, and guides us in His ways. What a glorious experience it is to be taught by Him!

Scripture says, “They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8). It is during the early morning hours that our hearts are quiet and peaceful—ideal for fellowship with God. At that time, we can hear His gentle voice more clearly. Later in the day, worldly concerns and pressures may weigh us down. That’s why we must set aside the early morning hour to be taught by the Lord how to do what pleases Him.

Because David rose early, he could say, “As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness” (Psalm 17:15). Not only David, but all of God’s saints had the habit of rising early, communing with Him, and becoming attuned to His still, small voice. We read in Genesis 22:3, “Abraham rose early in the morning…” Likewise, Job rose early to offer burnt offerings to God on behalf of his children (Job 1:5).

See what Scripture says about Jesus’ own prayer life: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” (Mark 1:35)

Dear child of God, make early morning prayer, meditation, and fellowship with the Lord a personal experience in your life. As you rise up early with a full heart and joyful spirit, offering praise and thanksgiving, the Lord who delights in praise will lovingly teach you His ways.

Verse for further meditation: “Come together, all of you, and listen: Which of you has foretold these things? The Lord’s chosen one will carry out His purpose against Babylon; His arm will be against the Babylonians.” (Isaiah 48:14)
