Jul 27 – Walk in Victory!
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)
Though Satan was defeated at Calvary nearly two thousand years ago, he has not yet been cast into the lake of eternal fire. He still roams around in this world, deceiving and misleading people.
Before the Lord Jesus Christ departed from this world, He gave us His authority, power, and dominion, declaring: “In My Name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on the sick, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17–18)
We are called to drive out various unclean spirits — spirits of lies, division, immorality, and more. It is essential that we wage war on our knees, in spiritual strength and in the authority of God.
When unexpected illnesses or life struggles surround us, we must get on our knees, resist the dominion of darkness, and overcome. It is the earnest personal prayer that empowers us to confront these dark forces.
There’s a powerful testimony from Pastor Paul Yonggi Cho. Once, a spirit of discouragement and resentment suddenly overwhelmed him. He questioned, “What’s the use of this ministry? Why should I toil so much?” He began feeling a deep bitterness — first toward the ministry, then toward the elders, and even the believers. Along with this spiritual oppression came bodily pain, weariness, and an inability to pray. Without realizing it, he was under spiritual attack from Satan.
Instead of praying, he thought rest would refresh him. But his wife rebuked him gently and said, “It’s wrong for you to lie down without praying personally or joining family prayer.” She urged him to pray. As he started praying, the power of God descended upon him mightily. At that moment, he saw Satan crashing through the window and fleeing.
Dear child of God, to stand against Satan, to overcome your discouragement, struggles, and trials, and to walk daily in victory, you need prayer. Don’t forget: both personal and family prayer are absolutely essential.
Verse for further meditation: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
