Jul 26 – Important Advice!

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.” (1 Timothy 2:1)

Though the spiritual father, Apostle Paul, wrote many wise instructions in his letters, he identifies prayer as the chief or foremost wisdom. And this isn’t just any prayer — it’s intercession specifically for kings, leaders, and those in authority.

In a certain large city of a country, they started gospel outreach through prayer. They had a burden that every soul in the city should encounter Christ, through consistent prayer— not only for individuals, but also for those in the government and people in power.

The city was divided into sectors. Lists of thousands of names of those in authority were compiled, and churches across the region were entrusted with the task of praying for them. Their unwavering faith was this: “If those in authority are reached, the whole nation can be reached.”

How much more important it is that we also do the same in our nation — compiling the names of our leaders and authorities and praying intentionally for them!

Paul writes: “That we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior… who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:2, 4)

What happens if we fail to pray as the Word of God commands? There will be unrest across the land. Peace and joy will vanish. Godliness and moral integrity will deteriorate. To prevent such destructive conditions, we must take the spiritual responsibility and pray before disaster strikes.

We must accept Paul’s chief wisdom: to raise up petitions, prayers, and thanksgiving for all people — for kings, ministers, and all in positions of authority, for their salvation, their blessing, and that they may be prepared for the coming of the Lord.

Dear child of God, if we desire peace in our nation, then we must pray for all those in authority. Sit in God’s presence — and begin to intercede today.

Verse for further meditation: “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Timothy 2:3)
