Jul 06 – As a Warrior in the Battlefield!
“No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
Just as God gave this promise to Joshua, a mighty warrior, He gives the same assurance today to all of us engaged in spiritual warfare: “No one shall be able to stand against you all the days of your life.”
When God called Moses, it was to lead the Israelites toward the promised land of Canaan. But when He appointed Joshua, it was to wage war against seven nations and thirty-one kings in Canaan, conquer the land, and divide it as an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
The Israelites were slaves in Egypt. Under Moses, they became pilgrims. But under Joshua’s leadership, they became strong warriors. Similarly, before we were saved, we lived in bondage to sin. But now, having accepted Christ, He is leading us toward the Heavenly Canaan — the Kingdom of God. Moreover, the Holy Spirit anoints us and gives us divine strength to battle and overcome the powers of darkness that rule in the heavenly places.
Knowing his time is short, Satan has unleashed wave after wave of demonic forces upon the earth. He is at war with the saints of God, launching fiery darts at every believer. That’s why Scripture exhorts us to: Recognize the enemy’s schemes (1 Peter 5:8), stand guard over the gates, keep watch over the way, gird our loins, and be strengthened and fortified (Nahum 2:1).
Years ago, I read a report in the newspaper which said that the army of a particular country was the most undisciplined of all the armies in the world.
It is so true that any army without discipline can never win! So how much more discipline is needed for us who stand in the army of the Lord? Every child of God must learn godly discipline and submit to the control of the Holy Spirit. Only then can we become victorious in our battles.
Dear children of God, the Christian life is a battleground. Let us gird ourselves with the Word, walk in obedience, and fight with the power of the Spirit.
Verse for further meditation: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)
