Jun 30 – Eternal Sweetness!
“There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
Bitterness will turn sweet — both in this life and in eternity, the Lord transforms bitterness into sweetness. One day, when we complete our journey on this earth and enter into His kingdom, all sorrows will vanish, and we will be filled with eternal joy.
Scripture says, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” (Hebrews 12:22–24)
There will be no more tears in heaven. God will wipe away every tear from our eyes. The days of pain will be over. Job once said in his grief, “My eye pours out tears to God.” (Job 16:20) David cried out, “Put my tears into Your bottle.” (Psalm 56:8) The prophet Jeremiah lamented, “Oh, that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears!” (Jeremiah 9:1)
But once we enter heaven, we will say, “No more tears.” Not just that—“no sorrow, no crying, and no more pain” (Revelation 21:4). Every former trouble will be gone forever.
Life on earth may bring much grief and suffering. But heaven is a land without any bitterness, filled only with sweetness and joy. In that glorious land, we will rest on the bosom of Jesus. Moreover, there is no curse in heaven. “And there shall be no more curse.” (Revelation 22:3)
The world was cursed through Adam, but Jesus hung on the cursed tree for us. He bore all bitterness, so the curse can no longer pursue us.
There is no hunger or thirst in heaven. “They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore.” (Revelation 7:16) There we shall enjoy all kinds of spiritual fruit. The heavenly manna, the food of angels, is there. The fruit of the Tree of Life is there. We will walk with God in the midst of the crystal-clear river and rejoice forevermore.
There is no scorching sun or heat in heaven (Revelation 7:16). What a blessed eternal land that is! Dear child of God, our Lord has gone to prepare mansions for us there.
Verse for further meditation: “The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” (Revelation 21:23)
