May 28 – A Prayer That Shakes!
“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31)
Look at the prayer life of the early apostles. They prayed until the place was shaken, until hearts were stirred, until prison doors opened, and until nations were awakened through resurrection power!
The early Church was a Church that prayed, that fasted, and that interceded with tears. That’s why great miracles and signs followed them, and multitudes were saved.
Do you pray? Do you pray with fervour and spiritual power? Your prayer is what will shake your family, your church, and even the nation. Your prayer will strengthen your inner being. Your spiritual life and your victory depend on your prayer life. Even the effectiveness of your ministry is determined by your prayer.
Little prayer equals little power. Much prayer brings much power. No prayer means no power! When you kneel before God, you will not fear any man. God will cause you to shine like the sun in its strength.
The early Church not only prayed—they continued steadfastly in prayer. They tarried in the upper room until the anointing of the Holy Spirit was poured out. They were endued with power from on high. They opened a glorious new chapter in Church history.
Even today, the Spirit is calling you to prayer. He is stirring your soul to intercede, to fast with tears for the land. In these last days, as the latter rain is poured out, prayer warriors will surely arise.
One group will see sons and daughters prophesy. Another will witness dreams and visions among the young and old. At the same time, the Lord will pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication. The Lord says, “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication…” (Zechariah 12:10)
Dear child of God, begin to pray today. Start praying in spirit and in truth. Be filled with the Spirit of grace and supplication, and begin to intercede mightily.
Verse for further meditation: “Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.” (Romans 12:12)
