Jun 27 – AUTHOR OF SALVATION !
“And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” (Hebrews 5:9).
One of the names of our Lord is ‘The Author of Eternal Salvation’. The Lord is eager to grant you eternal salvation. There is salvation of the past, salvation in the present, and salvation in the future.
The Lord, who had an eternal purpose for man, completed everything for his salvation, even before the creation of the world. He was The Lamb that was slain, even before the foundation of the universe.
Whoever comes to the Cross of Calvary and says with faith in his heart, “Lord was it not for my sake that you were crucified, to earn my salvation? I accept and receive You as my Lord and Master”, his sins are forgiven at that very moment and he receives the joy of salvation. This is the salvation of the past.
But he should not stop at having received salvation. He should strive every day for the perfection of that salvation. A person could be very hot-tempered person, at the time of receiving salvation. He should observe fasting and pray to be delivered from such anger; and never again to be in the influence of such anger. Then the Lord will give him complete salvation from wrath. Similarly, some people may not have a victorious life, because of their vain talk and lying. But if they pray to be completely delivered from every sin, sanctification can be perfected with godliness. This is salvation of the present.
There is also a future salvation. The Scripture says, “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved” (Matthew 10:22). When you place all your reliance on Lord Jesus, who is the author and initiator of your salvation, He will help you to be victorious in your spiritual life. Then your salvation will be perfect.
The name ‘Jesus’ means Savior. The Scripture says, “For He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12)
What are the various things does the Lord Jesus redeem and save us? Firstly, He saves from the mire of sin. Secondly, He rescues us from the cruel clutches of Satan. Thirdly, He redeems us from deadly curses. Fourthly He saves us from sinful habits.
He also saves us from all sickness; from sorcery; from witchcraft and wicked schemes. Children of God, the salvation that Christ gives is eternal and complete salvation. Have you received this wonderful salvation?
Verse for further meditation: “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear (Isaiah 59:1)
