Mar 19 – HE HAS ANOINTED !
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor” (Luke 4:18).
The Lord has set specific ministry for those who are anointed. And He grants them with necessary wisdom, strength and might, to fulfill that ministry.
In the Old Testament times, when priests were anointed, the Lord said: You shall anoint them, consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests” (Exodus 28:41). In the times of New Testament, everyone who is redeemed by the Lord is a priest. You should not think that only those who to stand at the pulpit, are assigned as the ministers of God. Every redeemed person has his own role in God’s ministry.
Every Christian has a ministry to fulfill. There is ministry of worshipping the Lord (Mathew 4:10), ministry of serving the Lord with a pure conscience (2 Timothy 1:3), ministry of serving God with reverence and godly fear (Hebrews 12:28), and ministry of presenting your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1).
In Isaiah – chapter 61, we can see clearly the ministry appointed for everyone who is anointed. The various ministries that are mentioned there include: ministry of preaching good tidings to the poor, ministry of healing the broken-hearted, ministry of proclaiming liberty to the captives, ministry of delivering those who are bound, ministry of proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord, ministry of proclaiming the day of vengeance of our God, ministry of comforting those who mourn, of giving them beauty for ashes…
After receiving the anointing, Our Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled all these ministries during His life on earth. The Scripture says: “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38).
The same Holy Spirit who anointed Lord Jesus with power and might, is filling you also with the same anointing. He is the One who prepares you for God’s ministry. He is the One who establishes you as powerful witnesses. Children of God, always be filled with the oil of anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Verse for further meditation: “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1).
