Mar 12 – HE WILL EXALT !

“Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:6).

When you humble yourselves and remain under the mighty hand of God, He will exalt you. Surely there is a time for you to be exalted and honoured. But He expects you to remain within His mighty hand. Until such time the Lord gives you an elevation, you should progress in the path of humility with happiness and without any grumbling.

Just think about Joseph. He had to wait patiently through all the wrong accusations and shame in the house of Potiphar and in the prison. We read in Ecclesiastes: “ To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Yes, Indeed there is a due time and season appointed by God for everything. Our Lord Jesus waited for the due time appointed by the Father, for performing miracles. Therefore, you should humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, before He can exalt you in due season.

There is a story of a sparrow building its nest in the cavity of the inner wall of a well. After coming out of their eggs, the young ones were in a hurry to fly, even before their wings were fully developed. Since they could not fly, they got drowned in the well. If only they had remained in the nest for another two days, they would have had the necessary strength to gracefully fly out into the sky. This story reminds us of waiting in the presence of the Lord until the Lord exalts you in due time.

Out of the thirty-three-and-a-half years of His total life on earth as the Son of God, Our Lord Jesus was relatively unknown for thirty years. How remarkable it is to know that He spent thirty years, away from ministry and public life, out of thirty-three-and-a-half years on earth! But still He waited patiently for the due time appointed by God the Father. That is why His short ministry for just three-and-a-half years have been so impactful across the world until today.

Jesus was never in a hurry, about any aspect. He performed everything in due time, perfectly and wonderfully. Even when there was a shortage of wine in the wedding at Cana, Jesus waited for the will and due time of Father God. The disciples of Jesus wanted Him to be well-known to everyone and that He should reveal Himself to everyone. They told Him: “For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world”. But in response, Jesus said to them: “My time has not yet come…”(John 7:6). Children of God, remain under the mighty hand of God, and He will surely exalt you.

Verse for further meditation: “Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility…” (1 Peter 5:5).
