Mar 11 – HE WILL COME
“This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11).
We all look forward to the day of Christ, with all eagerness. He who is coming will come soon and will not tarry. When the United States of America sent their space ship Apollo to the moon, huge crowds were watching the event. This rocket was launched from Kennedy Space Centre. And the Government mad elaborate arrangements so that all the people could watch the launch event live on their television sets, worldwide.
Among the millions of people who viewed the event, there was also a lady who was the wife of Armstrong: a member of that space mission. She was caught up with mixed emotions. She was filled with joy on the one side. At the same time, she was terribly afraid and unsettled due to fear.
At the end of the launch event, a journalist asked that lady about what she thought about her husband’s voyage to the space. And the lady replied that she is more keen on watching that space ship coming back to the earth, than going up to the moon. She conveyed that her interest and desire is about the safe return of her husband.
The disciples of Jesus could see the Lord’s ascension into heaven from Mount of Olives. But you will have the privilege of witnessing His return. He will come back in the same manner that He was taken up.
Just think about the term ‘He will come in like manner’. When some people go abroad to make money and they are completely changed due to the lifestyle of that country, their wealth and their influence levels. When they return to the home land, there is a total change in their outlook, their love toward others, friendships, and their religious fervour. But when Lord Jesus returns, He will come back as the same person. His loving heart will never change. Just like how he walked and interacted with humans in the past, He will do so in like manner. His unchanging nature is the reason for that.
Thus far, He has been standing at the right hand of His Father advocating for us. He has so far prepared rooms for us in the heavenly abode. He has sent the Holy Spirit to the earth, to dwell within us. And soon, He will come to take us back with Him. Children of God, get ready for His coming and make good use of the time at hand.
Verse for further meditation: “ Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another” (Job 19:27).
