Feb 17 – SHALL FLEE AWAY !

“And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 35: 10)

Gladness and joy will pursue speedily those who have been redeemed by the Lord. At the same time, sorrow and grief shall flee away from them. This is the great blessing of those redeemed by the Lord.

From the day that Adam and Eve committed the sin, the earth was cursed with sorrow. And the sorrow of the woman was greatly multiplied, as she had to bring forth children in pain. The Scripture tells us that: “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble” (Job 14: 1).

Every man has his own share of grief and sorrow, pain and affliction. Jacob said to Pharaoh, “few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage” (Genesis 47: 9).

Even King Solomon, who had such great wisdom, and enormous wealth, riches, name and fame, was not without his share of grief and sorrow. In the book of Ecclesiastes, he says: “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind” (Ecclesiastes 1: 14).

Lord Jesus Christ purposed in His heart to save you from the grief. It is for this purpose that He came down from heaven to earth, which was filled with sorrow. He gave His own blood, as the price of redemption to save you from the sorrow and pain of sin.

The Scripture says: “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things… but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (1 Peter 1: 18, 19). Because of the great sacrifice of our Lord, you are today standing with the redeemed children of God, and not among sorrowful people around. The Scripture says: “And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads” (Isaiah 35: 10). If you have been redeemed by the Lord, then you need not be afraid or be grieved for anything. And you can gladly declare that you are indeed the child of God, the King of Kings and His inheritance.

Children of God, whenever you sorrow or affliction, look unto Jesus, who has redeemed you from your sin and pain, and He will rescue you.

Verse for further meditation: “Though He causes grief, Yet He will show compassion According to the multitude of His mercies. For He does not afflict willingly, Nor grieve the children of men. (Lamentations 3: 32, 33)
