Feb 01 – CAMEL!
“Then she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels” (Genesis 24:20).
We read in the Bible that Eliezer, the servant of Abraham, took many camels with him when he went down to Mesopotamia, to find a bride for his master’s son. He made his camels kneel down outside the city by the well, to give them water. And Rebekah ran down to the well, and drew water for him and all his camels.
When a camel sits down and when it gets up, it graciously humbles itself by kneeling down. It also kneels down and bends while drinking water. You need to learn the beautiful lesson of ‘standing on your knees’, from these camels.
You should learn to stand on your knees before your Lord. Standing on your knees is a sign of your obedience. When you humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, with tearful prayers, the Lord will surely answer your prayers with a ‘yes’ and ‘amen’.
Once a family who were looking for a bride for their son, heard about a woman and went to her house. That woman was not aware of their visit, and as per her usual routine, she had locked herself inside her room, standing on her knees and praying. When the groom’s family tried to expedite, her parents conveyed: that she is in the habit of praying on her knees for one hour and that they do not disturb her during that time. And asked them to wait till she finishes her prayers.
And when she came out from her prayers, her face was glowing with the presence of the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord also strongly put a thought in the mind of groom’s family saying: “who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above precious pearls”. The groom’s family also happily accepted her as a daughter-in-law most suited for their family.
Whenever we think of a camel, it shows us about the ministry of praying on knees, which is the best ministry. When parents stand on their knees and pray, their children are blessed. When the ministers of God pray on their knees, the believers are able to rise and shine for God. Children of God, whenever you pray, make it a point to stand on your knees and pray.
Verse for further meditation: “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory…” (Ephesians 3:14-16)
