Jan 22 – Perfect Strength!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
You are called to be made perfect in your strength. Therefore, it is important that you strengthen yourselves. Be strong in the Lord by proclaiming that: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
King David is someone who grew from strength to strength in every aspect of his life, and found joy in praising God. He says that: “The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation” (Psalm 118:14). Never become wearied in your heart by thinking that you are weak or an orphan or uneducated. The Scripture tells us that: “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty” (1 Corinthians 1:27).
God has chosen you and filled you with divine strength. David says: “For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose against me. For by You I can run against a troop; By my God I can leap over a wall” (2 Samuel 22: 40, 30).
None of the Israelites were weak. Moses, who led them from out of Egypt, was never weak in his legs or dim in his eyesight, even at the age of one hundred and twenty years. Similarly, the strength Caleb was not diminished even at the age of eighty-five years. He said: “here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in” (Joshua 14: 10-11).
First and foremost, you get strengthened at the time of your salvation. The moment you are redeemed, you will be able to feel that the Lord and the whole heaven are with you on your side. That is why David cried out with joy, saying: “O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle” (Psalm 140:7).
Secondly, there is strength in the Word of God. The Scripture tells us: “But in all things we commend ourselves…by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left…” (2 Corinthians 6:4,7). The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17) – It is mighty in God for pulling down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Thirdly, there is strength in the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul writes thus in his epistle to the Romans: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13). Children of God, come forward – let us be made perfect in strength!
Verse for further meditation: “They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion” (Psalm 84:7)
