Jan 21 – Perfection of Beauty!

“Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God will shine forth” (Psalm 50:2)

Perfect beauty should be found in you, when you progress toward perfection. It is divine beauty – which is the image of Christ. Your beauty should be so perfect, that when others see you, they should be able to see Christ in you. Here the term ‘beauty’ refers to internal beauty or charm and not the outward appearance with the help of cosmetics. It’s the internal beauty that really matters.

Apostle Paul writes thus: “rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God” (1 Peter 3:4).

Children of God should strive for a gentle and quiet spirit. There is a divine beauty in quietness. When you look unto Jesus, we read that He was as a silent lamb. It is best to keep quiet where we need to be quiet.

Our Lord remained quiet, when the Scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery. Even when the enraged mob repeatedly pressed Him for a response, He said to them: “Anyone who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first”. And He remained quiet after saying that. Such quietness is a strength of inner beauty. It was the sweet beauty, graceful beauty which was filled with the grace to protect even the adulterous woman.

There are some people who are always talking without a stop, and they are not able to control their tongues and lips. The Scripture clearly tells us that In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. You should therefore pray for a gentle and quiet spirit and obtain it from the Lord.

In order to become perfect in beauty, you should meditate on the characteristics of Christ. The Scripture tells us that He is perfectly beautiful and altogether lovely (Song of Solomon 5:16). You – as the bride appointed for the Lord, should also inherit such perfect beauty. The Scripture poses the following question: “ Who is she who looks forth as the morning, Fair as the moon, Clear as the sun, Awesome as an army with banners?” (Song of Solomon 6:10).

Children of God, when you spend much time in the Presence of God and pray, you will also reflect the beauty and radiance of the Lord. The special and holy beauty of the Lord will be found in you. And the Lord will delight in you and tell you that you are perfect in your beauty and not a single flaw or spot is found in you.

Verse for further meditation: “How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, with your delights!” (Song of Solomon 7:6).
