Dec 13 – THE SPIRIT OF GOD NEVER DELAYS !
“So, I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” (Psalm 55:6)
Dove is capable of flying swiftly. Though the wings appear to be gentle, they are really strong. With the strength of their wings, they can even fly non-stop for days together.
A person who raised doves said that once you let them fly, they will immediately rise above toward the sun and find its directions and once they know their position, will fly in the desired direction, without any rest. Some of them could even fly thousands of miles.
When Jesus Christ was baptized, the heavenly dove – the Holy Spirit descended upon Him instantaneously. And no gravitational force could ever match it. Yes, the Holy Spirit will come down instantaneously and help you.
In the anointing camps, when people cry out with a contrite heart for the Holy Spirit to fill them, He descends upon them instantly. We are awestruck in wonder when we witness this. Some of them are also anointed on the same day when they commit themselves to baptism. He pours out His strength on those who seek Him with a great thirst and longing in their hearts.
When the disciples had gathered together in the upper room, praying with thirst and hunger in their hearts, the Holy Spirit descended upon each one of them, with the sound of a rushing mighty wind. He thus swiftly fulfilled the promise: “you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”.
In the Acts of the Apostles, we can read about the mighty deeds of the Holy Spirit, for the growth of the early Church. The eyes of the Holy Spirit looked upon the minister from Ethiopia, and directed Philip to run toward his chariot. And immediately after proclaiming the gospel and baptizing the minister, Philip was taken away for another ministry (Acts 8:39).
When the Church at Antioch fasted and prayed for the spreading the Good News, the Holy Spirit descended there and said: “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them” (Acts 13:2). Dear children of God, even today Holy Spirit is willing and eager to respond to your prayer request, without any tarrying or delay. Therefore, ask and you shall receive!
Verse for further meditation: “And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.” (John 1:32)
