Nov 30 – SHADOW OF CLOUD !

“Behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them…” ( Mathew 17:5)

When Jesus and His disciples went up to pray on the mountain, He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun and His clothes became as white as the light.

There Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. While they were still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them. How wonderful it would have been! That experience and the overshadowing cloud gave them great insights to the disciples. In the shadow of cloud, one can learn about the excellent spiritual mysteries. Like the cloud which overshadows, the Holy Spirit overshadows you, and reveals the divine mysteries.

As the bright cloud overshadowed them, a voice came out of the cloud saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Mathew 17:5).

In the days of old testament, the cloud of pillar covered the Israelites as they walked in the wilderness. That pillar of cloud provided shadow and protected them from the sun. It was because they were under the pillar of cloud, they did not become weary even in undue heat all around them. They were also not afflicted with any disease or infection arising out of such extreme heat.

Just like the pillar of cloud, which absorbed the heat, protected from sun, and provided cool shadow to the Israelites, Jesus became for us the mediator between Father God and us. Whenever we deserve the wrath of God, and the righteous judgment of Father God, the grace of our Lord Jesus, blocks that like a pillar of cloud and protects His children. Through His precious blood shed on the Cross, He is able to mediate between the Heavenly Father and the sinful man.

Apostle Paul writes as follows: “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea” (1 Corinthians 10:1,2).

When Christ Jesus was taken up to heaven, a cloud received Him out of their sight, which carried Him into heaven. Dear children of God, He who was taken up to heaven in a cloud, will descend and come back with clouds. When the trumpet is sounded, you will be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord and to be with Him forever.

Verse for further meditation: Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him…” (Revelation 1:7).
