Oct 22 – GLORY AND HONOUR!

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:9).
Jesus Christ tasted the death on the Cross. He not only tasted the fear and turmoil of death but also willed to deliver us who are His children by keeping all these things away from them.
There was a rich man. He lived according to his own will enjoying the lusts of the world. One night, when he was sleeping, he heard a voice that said, “A rich person is going to die at 6 AM tomorrow.”
The man was terrified as he woke up. He also woke up his wife and shiveringly told, “I am afraid. My ears heard a voice which said that a wealthy person is going to die. I may die tomorrow morning.” The wife told him that it might be simply a dream and asked him to sleep.
But that rich man was unable to sleep. He telephoned the doctors to come to his home and accordingly, the doctors also came early in the morning. They checked him with medical equipment and told him, “You are healthy. Your heart is functioning well. No harm will happen to you. Please go to sleep.” Saying this, they went away.
But, even after this, he continued to worry. He began to lament, “When will it be 6 O’clock? When will I die?” When it was 6 O’clock, his elderly and pious servant came to him and said, “Sir, my wonderful God is calling me. Goodbye.” Saying this, he went to his bed and once lied on it, his life left him.
The rich person began to think. That day, he realised, “I remain a rich person in the eyes of the world. But how rich my servant is, in the eyes of God! How great and precious are his Salvation, divine peace he had and the divine silence he maintained! That incident guided him in the path of Salvation.
Dear children of God, you may be economically poor, illiterate and ordinary people on earth, but you are precious in the eyes of God. He sees you like rich, wealthy and heirs of the eternal blessing.
To meditate: “….thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Corinthians 15:57).
