Oct 10 – NEHEMIAH AND THE RESISTANCE!

“…let your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man” (Nehemiah 1:11).
When you try to do great things for God, it is imminent that you will come across oppositions and hurdles. If you do not face any hurdle in your ministry, you will have to revaluate yourself. A ministry free of hurdles is likely to be ineffective. Satan will rise against effective ministries and indulge in creating troubles constantly.
Numerous oppositions rose against Nehemiah when he began to build a temple for God and walls around Jerusalem with zeal. The enemy fought viciously. Sanballat and Tobiah rose against Nehemiah. The Scripture says, “….they were deeply disturbed that a man had come to seek the well-being of the children of Israel” (Nehemiah 2:10).
But, at the same time, God stood with him. He gave a call in the minds of the people to stand with him. The people of God stood eager in sacrificially offering to the ministry of God. They also dedicated themselves to the ministry to fulfil their responsibilities.
Dear children of God, you should be prepared to sacrifice anything for the expansion of the Kingdom of God on earth. When you resolve to pay any price for the revival, God will surely command great results in your ministry. So, never get weary of your mission.
Whichever man toils for the Salvation of souls, it is imminent that he will be targeted by satan. When you initiate to do something for God, the enemies of God will begin to make fun of you. They will mock at you saying, “Is the world going to get reformed by your ministry? So many servants of God have fallen and the same thing is also going to happen to you.”
The enemies of Nehemiah made him weary through their mockery and teasing. “Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build if even a fox goes upon it, he will break down their stone wall” (Nehemiah 4:3).
Do you know what Nehemiah did when he was made fun of? He resolved to pray against all the mockery, reproaches, hurdles and struggles which may arise. Dear children of God, you should also learn to pray that way.
To meditate: “Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its services” (Nehemiah 13:14).
