Sep 29 – PERSONAL PRAYERFUL LIFE!
“…but my own vineyard I have not kept” (Song of Solomon 1:6).
How sad it is for God to say, “…but my own vineyard I have not kept.” Setting right the prayerful life is your first responsibility. If you fail to pray in your personal life, your prayer in the church and your prayer before a group of people will not be a blessing for you. Only through your personal prayerful life, you can protect the vineyard, which is the soul.
When God brought Adam and Eve to the Eden Garden, He assigned the job of maintaining and guarding the garden to Adam. It is a question of whether Adam did the job loyally and perfectly. If Adam had guarded the garden properly, satan could not have entered into it. Adam and Eve might not have been tested.
Satan was able to enter into the garden and climb the tree of the knowledge of good and evil only because it was not guarded properly. He cheated Eve and in the end, the world went into sin and curse. Your prayerful life alone could protect your vineyard, which is your family from satan.
Whatever be the ministry you do. It may be village ministry or street preaching or distribution of tracts and if it is not done with prayer, it will be like attempting to cut a tree with a blunt axe.
Dear children of God, if you sit at the feet of God in the early morning and pray, He will be fighting for you throughout the day. If you fail to pray, you will be left to spend the day with your own strength and the ultimate end will be defeat.
A servant of God, roamed about here and there in search of souls to extend his church. He took many efforts like conducting Bible classes and delivering several sermons to achieve his aim. But, he failed to protect his prayerful life, which is the vineyard. One day God told him, “Son if you bend your knees and pray, it will not be necessary for you to run for souls. Your prayer will bring numerous souls to the entrance of your church.” Accordingly, he began to pray and God brought many souls to his church.
Dear children of God, you have to earnestly pray if you want to stay strong in your soul. Then, your inner man will get strengthened. The gifts and powers of the Spirit will fill you. God will use you powerfully.
To meditate: “I sleep, but my heart is awake; it is the voice of my beloved! He knocks” (Song of Solomon 5:2).
