Sep 03 – PEACE ON EARTH!
“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14).
Not only men but also the angels had the desire to have ‘peace on earth.’ When Jesus Christ took His birth on earth, the angels appeared in the sky and the Good News they proclaimed was “Peace on Earth.”
Let us meditate a little about “Peace on Earth.” The Scripture says, “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den” (Isaiah 11:6-8). Aren’t we feeling a delight in our hearts when we just imagine these things? How joyful that day would be, on which these things happen!
A nation waged war against another nation that preferred peace to prevail. The commander had issued strong orders to the soldiers to slaughter everyone and to burn the entire nation. But, when those soldiers came there to attack, the people residing there welcomed them with all love.
The tiny tots held bouquets in their hands and welcomed those soldiers with smiling faces. The women stood on the terraces and waved their hands, demonstrating their love. The men with their smiling faces were engaged in their day-to-day activities. The atmosphere filled with love made the soldiers forget the purpose of their visit and they took the children in their arms and began to caress their heads gently. With the thought that how could they fight with people who are so loving, they threw their armories down and returned with peace.
Jesus Christ came to the world to reveal His love. He came to show His other side of the cheek to one who slapped Him on His cheek. He came to love His enemies too. His love brings peace to the earth. If you give space to the Prince of peace in your life, firstly your heart, then your family, then the nation and in the end, the whole earth will receive peace.
Dear children of God, pray for peace to prevail on the earth. Introduce the Prince of peace to others. You will remain blessed according to the Word, “Blessed are the peacemakers.”
To meditate: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1:2).
