Sep 01 – PEACE BE WITH YOU!
“Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.” So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace” (Judges 6:23, 24).
Our wonderful God is the Lord of peace. Prince of Peace is one of His Names (Isaiah 9:6). Peace has been promised to us through Him. The divine peace is descending from heaven towards us.
Once, ten lepers came to Jesus and pleaded saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” The heart of Jesus melted on seeing their condition. He promised them divine healing and said, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” As promised, they got miraculously cleansed on their way.
One among those ten persons came back to Jesus to thank Him. God blessed him saying, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Our loving God is one who not only gives you divine healing and Salvation of souls but also perfect peace.
Will you come nearer to Jesus Christ to receive that peace? Jesus calls you with love saying, “Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mathew 11:28). Rest is nothing but Divine peace. Is it not? Today, the whole world is struggling for want of peace. God says that there is no peace for the wicked (Isaiah 48:22).
Once, some students met one of their co-students who was a Christian and asked him how he could remain so peacefully when they were suffering from so many struggles and needs. The Christian student replied, ‘I used to sit at the feet of Jesus Christ who is the Prince of peace, every day in the early morning and keep praising Him. I will keep on praising Him until the divine peace which can neither be given nor taken by the world, begins to rule my heart. Further, I will be placing every problem I face, at God’s feet and remain silent with the firm hope that He will take care of it. Since I refrain from carrying the burdens on my shoulders, I am able to stay with peace and joy.’
Dear children of God, will you also follow the same way to receive joy and peace?
To meditate: “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
