AUG 09 – HE WILL MAKE YOU REJOICE!

“For I will turn their mourning to joy, will comfort them, and make them rejoice rather than sorrow” (Jeremiah 31:13).

See how graciously our beloved God consoles and comforts us and provides a promise which strengthens our heart! He promises, “I will make them rejoice rather than sorrow.” Yes. The days of sorrow, days of sadness and days of suffering are coming to an end.

No sorrow could remain in you when the arm of God intervenes in your life. Apart from comforting you by wiping your tears away, He turns your mourning into joy. All things work together for good to those who love God (Romans 8:28).

When sorrows and sufferings surround your life, you lament saying why these things should happen to you and why should your life come across such big tests. But, everything will look like a blessing when God turns them to good.

After completing his college education, my father kept on applying for several jobs. He tried to get employment in a bank or government service. But, God allowed him to work as a Maths Teacher in a school. It was a government school. Since proper classrooms were not available, he had to conduct his classes under the trees.

Most of the students in his class had failed in the previous classes and were not good enough to understand what is taught. My father took all-out efforts to uplift them in their studies and also encouraged them to become studious students. His efforts gave good results and all the dull students became bright ones. Thus, there was a reason behind God making him a teacher. This experience also helped my father to become a preacher in the latter days.

Look at Joseph. His brothers sold him as a slave. When he was honestly carrying out his household chores, he was sent to prison with false accusations. But God exalted him as the head of Egypt. Dear children of God, to whatever extent you are suffering today, in proportion the uplifts are awaiting you. Your mourning is not permanent. God will turn your mourning into joy.

To meditate: “Make us glad according to the days in which you have afflicted us, the years in which we have seen evil” (Psalms 90:15).
