JULY 12 – THE DIRECTION FROM WHICH COMES THE EXALTATION!
“For exaltation comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south” (Psalm 75:6).
The Scripture has 150 Psalms. Of these 150 Psalms, 73 were written by David, 12 by Asaph, 11 by sons of Korah, 2 by Solomon, 1 by Moses and 1 by Ethan. There are 50 Psalms to which the authors are not known. The Psalms help in understanding the minds of the saints and also the truths found by them.
When the enemies came rushing against the Israelites, the Israelites eagerly awaited for other nations to come for their rescue. They looked out with the thought, ‘Will, not the help come from Egypt which was in the East, will not someone lend their cavalry’ and so on but, no one came forward to help them. The direction which you have to look at is not East, West, South or North. In that case, to which direction one has to see for help?
David says, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1, 2). God whom you love alone could send you the help. It is in His hands to render help, and He may use a big group or a few people for the purpose.
When the Midianites came in big number against the Israelites, Gideon did not look in any direction but looked up and relied upon God. Since God was with them, they were able to win over the huge camp of Midianites with a tiny group of three hundred warriors.
One day, a war arose against King Hezekiah. Sennacherib, the commander of the Assyrian army, had sent a terrifying letter to King Hezekiah. How could King Hezekiah prevail over such a huge Assyrian army? He did not turn to east or west but looked up to God. God responded by sending His angel. The Scripture says, “Then the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses, all dead” (Isaiah 37:36).
Dear children of God, you also may be caught in several problems. You may be thinking over who will redeem me from this problem, whom should I approach, where from should I borrow, and which officer should I seek and so on. What is the promise that God gives you? “Victory comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the wilderness. It is God alone from whom comes the help”.
To meditate: “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Corinthians 15:57).
