Nov 4 – SIN OFFERING!

“But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door” (Genesis 4:7).

All types of sins are terrible. It will keep lying on the entrance. It chases and follows a man. Sin will lay along with the bones of a man.

A king won a battle and returned home with innumerable prisoners. He neither had sufficient number of handcuffs nor sufficient prisons to lodge them. In this situation, a blacksmith approached the king and promised to build a strong jail and also strong, unbreakable handcuffs. He also began to make strong handcuffs for the prisoners there.

The king of the neighbouring country came to know about this blacksmith. He sent a message to the blacksmith asking whether he could visit his country and also make such strong unbreakable handcuffs to his country.

The king who had already employed him in making the handcuffs came to know about this. With great anger, he handcuffed the blacksmith and put him in prison. The heavy handcuffs put on his hands troubled him greatly. He lamented saying, “Oh, these cuffs were made by me and I know that these could not be broken or opened. I can never escape from these cuffs. How good it would have been if I had not made these strong cuffs!”

The Scripture says, “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning” (I John 3:8). The sin is a terrible power of Satan which rules over humanity. It not only rules but also enslaves humanity. Read the Scripture which repeatedly cautions about sins.*

For many people, sin looks sweet in their eyes. The pleasures and the lusts of the world appear to be sweet in the eyes of men and attract them. No one could generally understand their deceptive nature. Look at the hands of those who are suffering from scabies. When they scratch, it will appear to give some pleasure. But continuous scratching will result in bloody wounds.

It is the same with the sins. The sin which wears a false attraction will take one to a stage from which he or she cannot get relieved from it. The Scripture says, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death” (James 1:14, 15).

To meditate: “And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Revelation 1:6).
