Nov 2 – THE GATE OF HEAVEN!

“This is none other than the house of God and this is the gate of heaven!” (Genesis 28:17).

There is a gate for the houses. Similarly, there is a gate for heaven too. In a place where there was no knowledge of a temple, Jacob met God and he found the heaven to remain opened. He saw a ladder laid between the earth and heaven. He saw angels ascending and descending on it.

Jacob did not see any man climbing up the ladder to heaven. The man did not have sufficient holiness in him to climb on it. He did not have the guts too to climb and reach God who did not know what sin is. But, when we come into the New Testament, Christ Himself turned into the ladder. He himself connected the earth with heaven. He extended the privilege of reaching the heaven to man by paving the way.

John’s vision was that a multitude of people was climbing to heaven. Not only that. He also received the call “Climb and come here.” Dear children of God, how blessed it is for Jesus to turn into the gate for heaven. Jesus has said, “I am the way while no one comes to the Father except through me.” Is it not?

We read about many gates in the Scripture. In the book of Revelation, we read about another gate in the 8th verse of the 3rd chapter. It is an open door. The Scripture says, “I have set before you an open door and no one can shut it.” While a man shuts one door, God opens seven great, glorious gates. All the keys of the blessings are in His hands. He is the one to have the keys of David. He opens in such a way that no one else could shut it. Here, God has kept an open door in front of you.

The doors of Gospel, the doors of ministry, gates of heaven and the doors of prayer are open for you. Today, God shows you an open door. You have walked across a path of several hurdles and struggles. But, God has commanded an open door in front of you.

The Scripture also refers to another gate. It is the gate of the breach. It is the gate where the children of God have to stand. It is the gate where one has to pray with tears for the souls and the nation. It is the gate where many children of God had stood in prayer in their time.

Dear children of God, will you stand on the breach as Moses had stood? Will you plead with tears for the sake of the perishing souls, as Esther did?

To meditate: “Therefore He said that He would destroy them, had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them” (Psalm 106:23).
