“The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand” (Deut. 28:12).
In the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy, the first 14 verses are a Scripture portion filled with blessings. All these promises will come true in your life if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God. One of the prime blessings found in this Scripture portion is “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens.”
Assume that you are visiting a generous and wealthy person seeking help. He may give you a good some of money as help. If he is more compassionate, he may even give you valuables like gold or silver.
But Jesus Christ, who is the most generous of all other generous lords, who is rich in mercy and one who never casts out those who come to Him, will open to you His good treasure, the heavens. Then the showers will pour in your nation at the appropriate time. All the works in which you put your hand will be blessed.
If you want God to open the heavens for you, you will have to open your heart when the poor shout for help. You should come forward to generously help those who are helpless and those who suffer in poverty. If you close your ears to the shout for help made by the poor, God also will close His ears when you call Him.
A servant of God suffering from a kidney problem got admitted to a hospital. At that time, the “Perinba Peruvizhaa” was in progress and the patient was brought to the venue for praying. But, on reaching there, his condition became worse and he had to be taken back to the hospital urgently. A car was needed for the urgent transportation and his relatives were running here and there seeking help. When they pleaded to a rich person he reluctantly offered his car. But the wife of the rich man began to shout at her husband and firmly refused to give the car.
Since the heart of the wife got closed, the wish of the husband also was closed. The doors of the car also was closed. How will God open the windows of heaven to such people? Dear children, give and you will also be given.
To meditate: “Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do” (Deut. 29:9).
