“Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel” (II Kings 4:6).
Our God is one who performs miracles. What are miracles? When a man loses all his hope, God intervenes and makes wonders happen in his life. This act of God is known as miracles.
The verse above explains how God did wonders in the life of a poor widow who had been struggling in debt problems. She went to the neighbours, collected empty vessels, brought home and began to fill them with oil which she had. Even after filling all the empty ones, the oil on hand did not decrease, and the vessels remained always full.
When problems arose in the life of this poor widow, she did not go to any man to clear her debt. Instead, she came to God; to the servants of God. You might also be afflicted with debt problems or health issues. Or you might have been affected by some other worries. Do not be afraid or perturbed.
Come to Jesus Christ, who is heavenly Elijah. Whatever be your problems, God will deliver you from them. He will also remove the problems of your children. The Scripture says, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).
That day, Elijah posed one question to that poor widow. “Tell me, what you have in the house?” was his question. She did not have any valuables but had only a small vessel of oil. The blessings which come out of the oil are countless. When prayed after applying oil, the sickness is healed. Oil is made use of in healing of wounds. Kings, prophets and the priests get anointed with oil. Oil is the sign of the Holy Spirit.
Dear children of God, that poor widow poured the oil she had in a small vessel to thousands of other vessels and even then the quantity of oil she had did not get decreased. God has given you the anointing oil, and even if you pour the same on all the people of our nation, your anointment will not become less. Take it from your vessels and pour it out on all the people who are thirsty. God, who does miracles will do the same also in your life. You will get blessed in proportion to whatever extent you give others,
To meditate: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over” (Psalm 23:5).
