Dec 26 – DAYSPRING FROM ON HIGH!

“…to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace” (Luke 1:78, 79).

Though the day of Christmas has gone by, the purpose of Christmas has not been fulfilled. It will prolong up to the Second Coming of Christ. Why the Lord Jesus Christ was born in this world? The reason is to give light to those who are sitting in darkness and the shadow of death.

Though you are not able to understand fully, the purpose of His birth in the world, can be known through many things in the Scripture verses. The Scripture says, “For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost” (Mathew 18:11). “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (I Timothy 1:15).

There is an ancient story about King Solomon. Once, he was riding a horse along with the queen Sheba. On the way, he saw several ants moving in lines on the road. He descended from the horse, went to queen Sheba and told her that the ants were saying, “All are stamping on us. Why should King Solomon also do the same?” Saying this, he suggested taking a different route.

Saying this, he proceeded in a different route. But, King Solomon was able to understand only that much from the ants. If he himself had turned into an ant, learnt their language and characteristics and talked to them in their language, he might have been able to understand many secrets about them.

God of creations who is God of gods, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, renounced the Heavenly greatness and turned into a man like us with flesh and blood. Thus He became our Saviour. The two reasons for Him to take birth in this world are, He wanted to give light to those who are sitting in darkness and, to guide our feet into the way of peace (Luke 1:78, 79).

If you understand the reasons for Christ to take birth as a baby in this world, it will brighten your life. It will make you praise God with gratitude. He not only brightened your life, but he also became the creator of peace for you.

“For He, Himself is our peace, who has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of separation and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity” (Ephesians 2:14, 16). Dear children of God, May this light of revelation make your life glitter!

To meditate: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
