Nov 11- THE SMOKING FLAX

“A bruised reed He will not break and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth” (Isaiah 42:3).

Our God is one does will not quench the smoking flax. He is a God who will not only allow the fire to extinguish but also make it glow bright. Dear children of God, examine your life a little. At some point of time in the past, you might have been looking bright in God. You might have been a light which burned brightly. You might have acted powerfully in early love.

But now, things might have changed due to several tests and you might be burning dim having lost the zeal and the prayerful life. Today, God wills to make you burn brightly and promises that He will not douse the smoking flax.

Just give a thought about why the flax burns dimly in the lamp. There are many reasons for this. The first reason is that sufficient oil is not there in the lamp. If the fullness of the Holy Spirit is not present in your daily life, the inner light begins to burn dimly. In some other lamps, the wick of the lamp becomes short to get immersed in oil which causes the lamp to burn dimly.

In your life, you should have a deep prayerful relationship with God at the bottom of your heart. If not, your holy life will begin to burn dimly. There cannot be a worse thing than the holy and prayerful life beginning to burn dimly in a person. It is because of this, a situation comes in the life of many wherein they lose many spiritual blessings of the Most High.

The prophet Jeremiah was unable to tolerate when the holiness in the children of Israel became dim. He lamented, cried and prayed “How the gold has become dim! How changed the fine gold! The stones of the sanctuary are scattered at the head of every street” (Lamentations 4:1).

When the holy life becomes dim, the far vision of the prophesying eyes also become dim. The eyes devoid of brightness reveal only weariness. King David says, “My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies” (Psalm 6:7).

Dear children of God, today, God announces good news to you with a promise. One who could make the dim light burn brightly is with you. One who comes to the world and makes everyman shine will turn your dim life into a bright one. He will give back to you all the blessings which you have lost.

To meditate: “The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you” (Numbers 6:25).
